To my dear Teacher -- -- --Miss Lillian Glasner
My English teacher of C.H.S.—1926

Now as one year has passed o’er me
That year which I spent with you
Under your faithful guidance
A teacher’s love so true

I glance once more o’er yesterday’s past
Those days are dawning yet
The faults of mine and others I see
And OK! how I deeply regret.

I still can see our English Class
And I sigh, for tis’ no more
I would do much different if it were today
But those days are o’vr.

Can it be, that those hours have vanished
Into the tide of fields afar?
Those days which once turned golden.
Are realy just what they are?

Your absence, dear teacher, I deeply miss
And in my hert I hope
That I was worthy of your help,
Which you so kindly gave.

I have learned to appreciate the past
For it seems now dearer to me
Words of thanks cold never repay
How much I owe to thee!

If the tide of time should part us,
And the dark clouds should roll by
I shall hear a sweet voice whisper
Never say—“You can’t”, “Say you’ll try”
