Dear Lillian,

Mamma is busy sewing so said I had to write to you. You know I like to write letters (?)

We had a letter from Hales this morning. Our deal is off. He did not make his sale. He said they were partially packed and had the moving van ordered. His man came and told him to get the papers made out and he would be back in an hour. He came back and threw up the deal and has gone back to Cincinnati to go [illegible] business there instead of Detroit. He will lose the $5000 he paid me. What will help a little toward the expenses we have had running around. Maybe its all for the best anyhow as I could not feel that they would be satisfied here.

Have you got your contract. You should ask Mr. Stanton for it as he probably has forgotten to give it to you.

We went to Charlotte this afternoon and told the folks our deal with off.

We may put oak floors in these two rooms. It might help to sell it. Everybody seems to like oak floors or hard wood of some kind.

Helen has gone to the show. Unless you let us know differently we will meet you in Charlotte Friday night.

Hope you are getting along just fine.

Lovingly

Dad
