Dear Lillian
I am thinking about you so much both yesterday & this morning, that I think I will take a little time to “talk to you” Rec’d a card from your mother Tues telling me that you called on me 7.30 Sun eve but house all dark & c. & c. [illegible] I know you have begun the work of traveling & like all he others you are tired & discouraged & c. But cheer up the first week is always the hardest both for new [illegible] & those that have been at it for years. Mrs. B[illegible] which as if she had had a sever illness the evening of the first day but time the week on 4 days was gave was quite in running order. And I met Doris’ Hubby Sat from home for the week fun. [Illegible] when Elie is [illegible] this year, & said how goes it? & Elie said 9 lived through it & know this is the hardest week, but believe me I was tired tonight. And speaking of Doris, Elie did feel so dreadful about taking that country school last year said such dreadful things I told Dorothy to talk to her & tell her Elie must not her future as a teacher defended so much on her first year she must [illegible] and Elie told her that & other things, & then this Spring I heard Doris say—she was so glad that she went there. Elie had learned more there any other year of her life & it was the best thing [illegible] ever happened to her. (Elie as out to Belles) & [illegible] said learned? here? “out of books & from life” I had [illegible] garden to get ready for ex & learned books & c “So it’s not always best for us to choose. Of course I infer that your job is not just what you would have liked. But there are some pretty good features. You are near enough here so you can come quite easily, & not so near that every one will hear & [illegible] all the unpleasant things that naturally come up. I rather expect you will be coming to it—next Fri eve and your folks will drive here after you. Still you may stay over this week end you can probably [illegible]more favorably if you dont come for 2 weeks, but you [illegible] until you may here to come after things you could not take with you. Dorothy forgot so many things she had to come at end of 4 days for her mother cant pick up & look after her as she always has a good thing too for Dorothy, she said not nearly as hard as first week last year, but of course quite tired.
I hope you will plan to come and spend a week end in N—some times not especially with me but come here for staffing space & am around from here then if your mother was not here I think we could visit some. I hear Frank Coley has sold grocery back to [illegible] & [illegible] Law & bought out McDerby. I knew McD had been wanting to sell her health is so poor & so is his. but I am wondering what [illegible] will do to take care of wife & baby
Now I am boxing all kinds of good things for you in this school year & also first experience away from home. [Illegible] feel sure you can & will make good. (all full) Sincerely your friend Mrs. Andrews
