Duluth--
April 6, 1925.
Dearest Lillian,
Received your letter and I know I have been negligent. I just returned from Virginia this afternoon—and fun. I visited all my old friends and pals. Last Sunday Monday I had supper at Neil Hawkin’s brother’s home—and had a lovely evening with them. I am sorry to miss so much but still my trip home has been wonderful.
Yesterday I went to the show and saw the “White Sister.” I’ll have a lot to tell you too when I come back there.
Mother and I have had another one of those spats—terrific, you know, and so I’m upstairs.
Yes, I’ll be back in Olivet. I expect to leave Sunday—and I’ll be there Monday. Could you meet me at the ange whenever I come? I always hate to ask you to—but you’ll do that for your old pal won’t you?
I’m sorry you didn’t see Alice—but she’ll forgive you. I’m glad you had a nice time in Detroit. I do hope you’ll be able to come to Duluth. I’m going to put in my application for a job to-morrow for June. If I can get a good one, I may keep right on working. It seems I have to fight for every little bit I get—so maybe it would keep peace in the family. Mother is on the war path again—so I don’t know how it will turn out. She surely has a miserable temper. She says she’d love to have you come—because she knows you are a nice girl.
My dad is feeling fine and he’s going to the train with me Easter when I leave.
I have some secret to tell you about my Nels. You’ll be surprised!
I just had a letter from Muriel Burdick. I’m sorry to miss all those entertainments you speak of—for Muriel asked me to go.
I just located one of my old High School chums here—so I’m going to call her—and she is going to get a date for me. I do so want one!
I expect I’ll have a lot to make up when I come back—but I hope they’ll give me some time.
Mother was very sick while I was gone to Virginia, but she is feeling better to-day. We have rented a place 827 E. 6th St.—and it has plenty of room, so you’ll invited to come.
I’ll try to find out to-morrow about the trip and the cost.
It will seem good to come to Olivet again. Everyone says I have gotten so fat. Olivet, and its rule did me good.
Best regards to
Miss Smith
Your mother and
Sister and all.
Your pal,
Alice
