Dear Lillian:
It’s nearly a month since I received your letter—but who said anything about negligence?
Well, I have one item to report, and that is, I now have a position, whereas, before I only had a job. I started my new work on the 2nd of this month and like it fine. I am in an Agency office for the John Hancock Mutual Life Ins. Co. located in one of our new bank buildings. I say “one” because we had two new banks completed last fall. It is a dandy office and I am the only girl, so naturally I have quite a bit of liberty.
Speaking about like to go out—tonight is my first nit home in nearly two weeks, and it is—only because of the rain. I had planned driving over to my chum’s but the weather is terrible—and is it getting cold? Well--!
last Saturday nite I went to a dance in Rock Island and stayed with my friend’s sister all nite. Sunday all day we had more fun, then came over to Davenport and saw a movie at the Capitol.
Monday nite we went to a dance at the Moline, Ill. Commercial Club given by a Masonic order. Tuesday there was a dance at the Davenport Temple but I just couldn’t make it. Had a fierce cold—so we stayed home. Wednesday Mother and I saw Lon Chaney at the Garden. Last nite my friend and I went to the Capital and saw Cullen Landis, Anna May Wang, Ruth Stonehouse, Bryant Washburn, and a few other movie stars in person. Some full week, I don’t see how I got rid of my cold—didn’t have time to think of it.
Writing shorthand surely ruins one’s handwriting.
Don is going to compete in a signing contest tomorrow, but he has a cold and I am doubtful of the out come.
Have to write another letter yet so I’ll sign off.
Love from Carol.
