Nashville High
Oct 10 ‘23

My Dear Lillian,

Ain’t this the prompt reply? I just got your letter this noon.

Everything is working out beautifully for us. Because Fri. we have a game with Olivet High and I’m coming to it and can stay at your house till Sun, night, if you haven’t changed your mind about having me.

Your plans sound dandy to me ‘specially’ the feet-ball game—I just love ‘em, and for some reason I’ve lost all my interest in Basket Ball.

So if you can plan to go to the foot ball game and meet me, I’ll be there. I’ll stay till the end of the game so if you cant come at first come at last.

Who did you mean by the girl I knew who would be tickled to sit with me at the game?

I’m real excited over coming and I hope you are ‘cause then I hope you are ‘cause then we’ll both feel alike. Yes, I’ve heard from Emory but I’ll tell you about him instead of writing it. I’m anxious to see the girls in your house and see the cow, and above all the twin beds and other new furniture.

Was sorry you didn’t get over to Nashville when you planned.

Ohyes! I’ve got new Oxfords and a grey and blue fuzzy sweater and new grey gloves.

Guess I’ll quit and do a bit of studying, you see I always keep stationary on hand now, because since college has begun I’ve become a professional letter-writer.

B’ [unintelligible]

Lots of “Love” [Pauline Sawyer]1

1Although the letter is not signed, the writing is similar to other letters from Pauline Sawyer so I have attributed it to her.
